Chapter, the Laguna Hills, Brea and Pasadena Chapters. Our members run at all levels of ability, so you will always have friends to run
with for training and racing! There is also a Racing Team available for those who can meet the qualifying standards. Come trail a Snail!

Snail's Cup Series Results are now posted. Click here to view them!
The purpose of this competition
is to:
a. expand the membership participation at Club races
b. increase Club visibility within the running community at local
races
c. create inter-Chapter competition and camaraderie
d. establish an award activity for all members at the next All-Chapter
Party
e. have fun
This is an All-Chapter competition based on the Club's annual series
of 12 races where members earn points based on their performances.
The winner will be the member who has accumulated the most points
at the end of year scoring their best nine of the twelve races. Each
member turns in their time by filling out the race results sheet posted
at the Club Canopy at each Club race. Unregistered "bandits"
are ineligible from participating. Scores will then be computed
by dividing the American Road Record for your age group and gender
into your performance and multiplying by 1000. For example, if Bino
McMann ran 20:30 for a 5k, his score would be computed as follows:
American Road Record for 5k in M40-44 = 14:25 / Bino's time 20:30
= 0.702 0.702 x 1000 = 702 points
Members will receive an additional 100 points per Club race for
wearing their Club uniform.
Additional points
will be awarded to members for traveling more than twenty miles to
the race (using your ASP Chapter Store as your starting point).
For example, the Saddleback Half Marathon/5K in Laguna Hills is our
May 31st Club Race. Using MapQuest to calculate mileage from each
ASP Store, Pasadena members receive 100 extra points for driving 53
miles from their home base - the PAS Store, Brea members get 50 miles
for traveling 25 miles, FV members travel 17 miles and get zero points
as does LH members for traveling one mile from their home base.
0 - 20 miles = 0 points
21 - 40 miles = 50 points
41 - 60 miles = 100 points
61 - 80 miles = 150 points
81 - 100 miles = 200 points
Series points and Club mileage will be calculated by Bob Morris then posted and updated monthly on each Chapter's website page and given to each Chapter newsletter editor to disseminate.
Racing Team members will not be eligible for this competition.
Each year at the All-Chapter Party in January, the winner will receive a gift certificate for a free pair of New Balance running shoes and a free year's renewal of their Club Dues. Their name will be placed on a perpetual Snails Cup Trophy and displayed at Snail's Pace Store their Chapter is affiliated with for the following year until the next winner is announced.
The club races have been posted, be sure to visit the events page.
To add value to your membership in ASPRC, A Snail's Pace Running Shop now offers a Membership Card entitling members to a 10% discount on ALL purchases - even sale items - at any A Snail's Pace Running Shop; or on-line at www.ShopASnailsPace.com when you join or renew your annual dues.
The Club Races
are now being selected. If you would like to nominate a local race for
consideration as a Club Race, please send your suggestions to Bob Morris
by email to Bob.Morris@asnailspace.net.
Criteria for a race to be a Club Race are: 1) It must be a race convenient
to one of our four club chapters in Orange or L.A. County; 2) it must
be a well-attended race by both the public and by club members; 3) the
race should include a distance which is do-able by most club members (5k's
are good, 50k's are not); and 4) it should ideally be a relatively high-profile
race with good promotional value.
Please note that we strive to select one race per month (occassionally
two), and distribute these Club Races equitably across the geographic
reach of our four chapters. But, that is not always possible--it largely
depends on what's on the race calendar.
